Week 21, Tuesday, April 22
Well, well, well - how about that?
Week 21, the final week of the winter season, and in both divisions the expected winners were defeated and the second placed teams won to take the titles, Amazing!
Whipton B, so long the first division leaders, fell at the last fence as they were defeated 5-4 by Jubilee A to put Labour Club who beat Whipton C 5-4 at the top. And in the second division Polsloe B played leaders Jubilee B and won by the same margin 5-4 to take the title from Jubilee. They don’t get much closer than that, well done all four teams.
Labour went 4-2 up in their match with Whipton C and captured the second doubles to take the points and the title. Well done Leigh.
Whipton B played Jubilee A and went three-all in the singles and then 4-3 in the first doubles but Jubilee came back to take the other two games to win the match. Dan Bevan went away on 116 and Shane Bevan on 110, Phil Ward finished on 121 and Andy Hitchman on 104 for the home side.
Alphington A finished in third place beating Heavitree A 6-3. They went 4-2 up in the singles and won the last two doubles to finish 6-3 winners, Heavitree’s Andy Farrell went out on 101 and Lucas Chown finished on 100 for Alphington. Ben Davis, Heavitree, went out on 112.
Bottom team Alphington B were at home to St Martins and took them all the way to 4-4 only to lose the final doubles game. Terry Patch went away on 101 for the home side.
Division Two
In division two Polsloe B went away to leaders Jubilee B they were three-all in the singles, but lost the first doubles and came back to take the points by winning the other two doubles. Polsloe’s Josh Rea went away with 110 and went out on 104.
Topsham Toppers came in third in the table beating Heavitree B 8-1. Heavitree’s N Horn recorded a 180 while K Yelland started on 140 and K Chadwich on 149 for the toppers.
Polsloe A were at home to John Clark’s Whipton A and in another tight match went 3-3 in the singles, but it was the Whipton team who won two doubles to end the match 5-4 winners. Polsloe’s Ethan Prout went away on 160 and Anthony Gordon on 152.
Railway had a walk-over against Topsham Town who couldn’t raise a team.
Week 20, April 15th
Looks like Whipton B will take the title
Division One
Whipton B are on course to win the title following their 7-2 victory over third-placed team Alphington A. Lots of notable shots from both sides, Whipton’s captain, Dan Bevan had a 180 as did Alphington’s L Chown. Brandon Stow got away on 100 twice and once on 120. Alphington’s Julian Budd went away on 120, Alan Curgenven on 100, and Ronnie Webb on 100Whipton’s P Richardson started on 102 twice. The surprising thing is after all the scores Alphington went 5-0 down in the singles!
Second-placed team, Labour, beat Alphington B 8-1 when the only Alphington player to win was Sam Partington.
Whipton C battled it out with Jubilee A, the match went 3-3, and then 4-4 before Jubilee snatched the final pairs. Roman went away on 160 twice and finished on 117.
In the St Martins v Heavitree match they went three-apiece in the singles, then 4-4 before Heavitree took the final game of the night to take the points. St Martins’ A Toborne started on 108 while Heavitree’s Andy Farrell got away on 105 and 101.
Division Two
Division Two leaders Jubilee B were at home to Topsham Toppers when the singles went 3-3, it was a different matter in the pairs as Jubilee took all three games to finish 6-3 winners. K Yelland started on 100 and J Isaac on 102.
Second in the table Polsloe B entertained Whipton A and thrashed them 9-0. The visitors had just five players so had to give two games away, Polsloe’s L Matthews went away on 148.
Heavitree B played Railway and were well-beaten 8-1, S Horn was the only winner for Heavitree.
Topsham Towners could not raise a team to play Polsloe A who took the walk-over.
Week 19, Tuesday, April 1
A romp at the Railway!
Division One
Whipton B continued their journey to the title by beating visitors St Martins 6-3 going 4-2 up in the singles and wining the last two doubles. Whipton’s Dan Bevan and Phil Ward recorded 180s while Dan had a 116 start and Michele Andrews a 119 start.
Second-placed Labour visited Heavitree A and went away with an eight-one win. Chris Hunt and Wayne Hughes scored 180s, C Tucker had a 146 start and Wayne a 100 start. A Hine finished on 102 while John Breban recorded another 102 out shot.
Alphington A won five singles to take the points the match ended 7-2 with Jubilee’s Mark Waycott starting on 105, and Alphington’s Julian Budd, 100; Nick Staddon, 112; and Andy Hodge, 152.
Alphington B went down 5-4 to Whipton C after being 4-2 down in the singles. Kelvin Grabham had a 119 start for the home side while Ross Goyne started on 101 for Whipton.
Division Two
Second division leaders, Jubilee B had a romp at Railway’s expense winning their match 9-0 (3-19). Wayne Edworthy recorded a 180, a 160 start and a 101 start. Finn Copp had a 101 start.
Polsloe B, running second to Jubilee also had a good win over third-placed Topsham Toppers going 4-2 up in the singles the match finished 5-4 to Polsloe B. Topsham’s S Adams had a 103 start.
Polsloe A also had a good win, this time over Heavitree B who could only muster five players. Polsloe won 9-0 (18-2). Polsloe’s Ethan Prout had a 180.
Whipton A had a 6-3 victory over Topsham Towners when it was 3-3 in the singles. The towners’ R Alexander got away with 111.
Week 18, March 25th
Whipton B take Labour to go 2 points clear
Division One
The top two teams in our first division clashed on Tuesday with Whipton B coming out on top 5-4. Labour lost the first three singles before Kieran Peek got one back but then the last two went to the visitors giving them the win. Labour then won all the doubles and the match ended 5-4 to Whipton. Labour’s C Hunt got two 180s and Wayne went out on 144. Brandon Stow, Whipton, scored a 180 and went out on 100 and 101.
Third-placed Alphington A visited Whipton C and went four-two up in the singles but Whipton levelled it up by taking two of the doubles to make it 4-4. The final doubles was won by Alphington to give them the points.
St Martins were at home to Jubilee A and went four two up in the singles, Jubilee took the first two doubles but lost the final game of the night. Result 5-4 (13-10).
Bottom team, Alphington B, had another dismal match and lost 6-3 to Heavitree A who went 4-2 up before claiming the first two doubles. Heavitree’s Andy Farrell got two 120 starts.
Division Two
In the second division top team Jubilee B took on Polsloe A and went four two up in the singles and went on to take two of the pairs to finish up 6-3 winners.
Polsloe B enjoyed another rout, 8-1, of their opponents this time Topsham Towners. Polsloe’s T Ronchetti hit a 180. Polsloe’s J Hunt had a 14-dart first leg, L Matthews 14 darts first leg and 12-dart second leg. In the doubles J Hunt and T Rochetti had a 17-dart 501 in their first leg.
Topsham Toppers were at home to Railway and went 5-1 up in the singles Railway took two of the pairs so the match ended 6-3 to the Toppers. K Yelland had a 100 start and L Martyr a 100 finish.
Heavitree B were at home to Whipton A, they went three-all in the singles but Whipton took all three doubles to win the match 6-3.
Week 17, Tuesday, March 11th
Louis Hodge gets a 7-dart leg
Division One
Leaders, Whipton B had a right old time beating bottom-of-the-division Alphington B 7-2. Michelle got away on 160 and Dan on 120 for the home side while Sam Partington did a 126 start for Alphington.
Second-placed Labour went away to Jubilee A and sunk them 7-2 going 6-0 up.
Alphington A were in third place in the division and went 4-2 up in the singles and then went on to take the match with St Martins 7-2. St Martins’ D Watt went away on 100 and J Budd, Alphington did 120 away with L Chown and R Webb both starting on 100.
Heavitree A were at home to Whipton C and beat them 6-3 with Whipton’s Steve Hogarty starting on 116 and Andy Farrell on 120. Heavitree’s Matt S started on 120.
Division Two
Whipton A had a right thrashing from leaders Jubilee who won this one 9-0.
Second in the division, Polsloe B, enjoyed themselves playing Railway and winning 7-2 - going five up in the singles. Polsloe’s Logan Matthews had a 140 start, Louis Hodge 148 start with a seven-dart leg, and Aaron Rea going off with 112. Railway’s Wayne Marchant went off on 108.
The same fate awaited Polsloe A being beaten 7-2 by Topsham Toppers. Ethan Prout started on 105 for the home side while R Prowse started with 120 and S Adams 120 for the visitors.
The tightest match of the week was between Topsham Towners and Heavitree B when the Towners just got the points winning 5-4.
Week 16, March 4th, 2025
It’s tight at the top!
With just five matches to go it’s nip and tuck in both divisions with two points separating Jubilee B and Polsloe B in the second division and just games difference in the first division between Whipton B and Labour who meet on March 25 – will that be the decider? The two second division teams meet in the final match of the season. Exciting or what?
First Division
Back to this week, Whipton B had a 9-0 victory over Heavitree A with Dan Bevan going out on 102 and 110 while Heavitree’s Jerry Alexander finished on 120.
Labour also had a happy night beating third-placed team Alphington A 8-1. Labour’s Wayne Hughes went out on 161.
Bottom team Alphington B, who could muster just the five players, went down 8-1 to Jubilee A. Jubilee’s Ethan Waycott recorded a 180 and Jake Mears went out on 160 as did Taylor Robbins, Sid Peters finished on 100.
The tightest match of the week was between Whipton C and St Martins. Whipton won 5-4 going 4-2 up in the singles but having to wait until the last doubles to take the points. Whipton’s Roman hit a 156 away shot and Si Holm hit a 120 start.
Second Division
Second division leaders, Jubilee B Won 6-3 in their match with Topsham Towners, it went three-all in the singles but the Towners got all three doubles. The Towners’ R Smith got a 180 and Jubilee’s Oscar Tootell started on 102.
Polsloe B went five up in their match with Heavitree B which finished 7-2. Polsloe’s R Matthews went away on 170 and J Hunt went out on 102 both for Polsloe.
Railway were at home to Polsloe A who won 6-3 going 4-2 up in the singles.
Topsham Toppers entertained Whipton A and beat them 6-3 going 4-2 up in the singles. Topsham’s S Adams had a 120 start.
Exeter Darts, week 15, Tuesday, February 18
Leaders fall to Whipton C
Division one
Leaders Whipton B were defeated 3-6 by their mid-table C team who went 4-2 up in the singles and then went on to take the last two doubles. B team’s Andy Hitchman went away with 112 and Dan Bevan finished on 106. Roman went out on 125 for the C team.
Labour went equal-top of the first division after beating St Martins 7-2 (8-15). They went 5-1 up in the singles and won the last two doubles. St Martins’ Don Watt went away on 120 and Chris Taborne 108 while Labour’s Wayne Hughes finished on 121.
Alphington A thrashed their B team 9-0 (18-4). Julian Budd had a 120 start and Alan Curgenven went away on 112.
Jubilee A were at home to Heavitree A and recorded a 6-3 victory (13-7). It was all square in the singles but Jubilee claimed all three doubles. Jubilee’s Sid Peters started on 120.
Division two
In the Polsloe Derby it was the B team who came out on top by 7-2. The singles went 5-1 to the B team who also took two doubles. Kirstie Denham shot out on 102 for the A side.
Whipton A were at home to Railway and came out the 5-4 (11-10) winners. Railway took the honours in the singles going 4-2 up but all three doubles went to the home side. Railway’s Brian Kemble had a 104 start.
In the Topsham Derby the Towners beat the Toppers 6-3 (14-10). Towners went 4-2 up and took the first doubles.
Jubilee B took the walk-over against Heavitree B who couldn’t raise a team.
Exeter Darts, matches played on February 11th, week 14
Div 2 leaders Jubilee B go down 7-2
Division 1
Labour Club were away to Whipton C when both sides won three singles but it was the visitors who took the points, winning 6-3. Wayne Hughes and K Peek scored 180s for Labour with Wayne Hughes getting a 100 start and a 120 finish. Robbie B got a 156 start. Ross Goyne got a 104 finish for the home side.
St Martins thrashed Alphington B 8-1.
The other two matches were walk-overs for Alphington A (Heavitree A) and Whipton B (Jubilee A).
Second division
Top team in the second division, Jubilee B, had a fright as Polsloe B beat them 7-2. Wayne Edworthy had a 120 start, and Fyn Copp two 100 starts for Jubilee. Josh Rea recorded an 11-dart leg for Polsloe.
Polsloe A had a heavy 7-2 defeat by Whipton A who went 4-2 up in the singles and took all three doubles.
Topsham Toppers visited Heavitree B and beat them 9-0 with R Prowse getting away on 101 and S Adams on 100.
The other match, between Railway and Topsham Town was a walk over for the Railway.

Whipton B steaming on
Division One
Alphington A had a bit of a beating when they visited league leaders Whipton B losing 6-3. They went 3-0 down in the singles before coming back to go 3-3. A different matter in the doubles as Whipton took all three. Dan Bevan, Whipton, got away on 100 while Nick Staddon did a 112 start and Ronnie Webb went off on 160.
Labour Club kept up the pressure on the leaders with an 8-1 victory over bottom team Alphington B. Don Burwood recorded a 120 start for the visitors.
Mid-table teams Jubilee A and Whipton C clashed at the Jubilee Club when the home side went 4-2 up in the singles and then took the first doubles game to take the points. Jubilee players Taylor Robbins, 100, and Sid Peters, 105 away.
Division Two
Division Two leaders, Jubilee B, went away to the Toppers and came out equal in the singles on 3-3. In the doubles Jubilee got the first two to take the points. The match finished 4-5 to the visitors. S Adams shot out on 128 for the Toppers.
Polsloe A thrashed Topsham Towners 7-2 going 4-2 up in the singles and taking all three doubles, Warren Jones started on 117 for the home side.
Polsloe B went to Whipton A and beat them 6-3. Polsloe went 4-2 up in the singles and also won the first two doubles to get the points. Polsloe’s R Matthews started on 152 while L Matthews got away on 108.
There were no cards to report on from Railway v Heavitree B and Heavitree A v St Martins due to their matches being moved to other dates.
Divisional Cup Finals
Whipton B and Polsloe B
through to our Cup Final!
In the First Division Cup Final between Labour Club and Whipton B it was the league leaders, Whipton B who did the business going 4-0 up in the singles and then getting the first of the doubles. Whipton’s captain, Dan Bevan, recorded two 116 starts and Brandon Stow getting away on 160. Labour’s Wayne Hughes finished on 129.
In the second division Cup Final, Jubilee B and Polsloe B fought it out with the singles finishing all-square at three apiece. It was Polsloe who captured the first two doubles to win the match 5-3.
24-25 winter league – Tuesday, January 21
Josh Rea gets 12- and 14-dart legs!
Division One
Our Division One leaders, Whipton B, came close to losing to St Martins when the teams went 3-3 in the singles. Whipton then captured the first two doubles to take the points. The match finished 4-5 (10-11 legs) with Dan Bevan getting a 180 and finishing on 108. Phil Ward went away on 160 and S O’Donnell for St Martins was off the mark with 109.
Labour remain in second place after a 7-2 (15-6) home win over Heavitree A. Labour went 4-2 up and won all three doubles. Labour’s Don Burwood, Wayne Hughes and Adrian Hine all got away on 120.
Alphington A also won 6-3 after going 0-2 down but coming back to end the singles all square. Jubilee then lost all three doubles to give the points to Alphington 6-3 (12-9 legs).
Whipton C walloped Alphington B 8-1 (17-4), Sam Partington was the only Alphington winner.
Division Two
Jubilee B remain top of the second division shop after taking out Railway Club 5-4 – it was 4-2 to Jubilee B at the break but it was Railway who took the first of the doubles but unfortunately for them Jubilee captured the second to make it 5-3. Railway took the final doubles. Jubilee’s Matt Carnell went out on 130.
Second-placed Polsloe A went nip-and-tuck with Heavitree B going 3-3 in the singles but Polsloe beat them 3-0 in the doubles to take the points 3-6 (11-13).
Polsloe B had a great night taking on Topsham Toppers and winning 8-1. They took the first five singles with J Hunt having a 12-dart leg. Other scores for Polsloe were L Hodge 108 and J Rea a 12-darter in his first leg and a 14-dart second leg and K Chadwick getting away on 160 for the Toppers.
Topsham Towners were at home to Whipton A and went four-up in the singles but then struggled to get the fifth game until the second pairs. The final score was 5-4 to the Towners.

Leaders Whipton B lose to Labour
Division One
Unbeaten division one leaders, Whipton B, met their match when visitors Labour went 4-2 up in the singles, Whipton came back, winning the first doubles game but it was all over as Labour gained the other two and took the points 6-3. There were some great darts thrown with Shane Bevan scoring a 180, D Bevan getting a 116 start, Phil Ward a 160 start for Whipton and D Burwood recorded a 120 start and Chris Hunt a 107 start for Labour.
Third-placed team Jubilee A went 4-2 up in the singles, with Jake Mears and Sid Peters taking the first doubles to take out St Martins who made a comeback winning the other doubles to finish the match 5-4 to Jubilee. St Martins’ Sean O’Donnell started on 112 and had a 102 finish.
Whipton C started the match well going two up but it all went downhill after that as Alphington A took charge and went 6-2 up. Whipton C got the final doubles game. Nick Staddon 112 start, Alan Curgenven 105 start and Ronnie Webb 109 start shone for Alphington.
Disaster for Alphington B as they had just the five players available again. Heavitree A took the match 8-1. Andy Farrell had a 180 and Ben D started on 108 both for the home side.
Division Two
Jubilee B had a party as they went away to Polsloe A and beat them 6-3, 4-2 in the singles. John Isaacs finished on 102 for Jubilee and Dan Everett started on 103 for Polsloe.
Topsham Toppers went down 5-4 to Railway who went 4-2 up in the singles but lost the first two doubles to force the decider which Phil Barrett and Pete White won 2-0 to take the points.
Whipton A went 4-2 up against Heavitree B who got the final singles and the first doubles games but Whipton rallied to take the remaining doubles to finish up 6-3 winners.
Finally, Topsham Toppers took a hammering - 9-0 to Polsloe B. Polsloe’s L Matthews had an 11-dart leg with a 107 start.
Exeter Darts, Tuesday, January 7th
Near thing for the leaders
Division One
League leaders Whipton B visited second-to-bottom Alphington who gave them a match in the singles finishing 3-3 but in the doubles the visitors won the first two to take the points. Whipton’s Dan Bevan and R Bevan recorded 180s.
Second-placed Jubilee entertained third team Labour. In the singles it ended all square but Labour snatched the first two pairs to finish 5-4 and jump over Jubilee to go second in the table.
Six of the games in the match between St Martins and Alphington A went 2-1 but it was Alphington A who took the points beating the home side 8-1.
Visiting team Heavitree A lost 8-1 to Whipton with only Jerry Adams and Sue Lewis winning in the pairs. Roman Bilenjky shot out on 125 and Claire S finished on 137 for the home side while Jerry alexander did a 108 finish for Heavitree.
Division
Toppers caught them up at 4-4 only to lose the final pairs to lose 4-5. S Yelland scored a 180 and Warren Jones started with 120.
Polsloe B had a good time at the Railway Club winning 7-2 with Polsloe’s J Hunt getting a 180 in an 11-dart leg and Wayne Marchant starting on 102 and Phil Barrett shooting out on 110 for the Railway.
Heavitree B were at home to bottom team Topsham Towners who gave the Heavies a good match with it finishing 5-4 to the home side after being 3-3 in the singles.
Finally, Jubilee B beat Whipton A 6-3 going 4-2 up in the singles and taking two of the doubles. W Edworthy started with 120 and D Roberts getting away on 110 for Jubilee.
Week 9, Tuesday, November 10th
Four 8-1s and a walk-over!
First Division
There was only one five-four this week and this was the match between Alphington A and the Labour Club, Labour went 4-2 up in the singles but had to wait until the last game to seal their victory. Wayne Hughes went away on 100.
Whipton B took a walk-over against Heavitree A who could not raise a team.
Alphington B went out to Pinhoe with just five players to play second-placed Jubilee B and lost 7-2. Jubilee’s Taylor Robbins went away on 101.
St Martins had a romp at home to Whipton C beating them 8-1, 5-1 up in the singles, they took all the doubles. Roman had a great start on 120 for Whipton and C Toborne 108, and C Madge with a great 156 start for St Martins.
Second Division
Third placed team Polsloe A entertained the Railway Club and went three up in the singles which ended 4-2 to them. The doubles went Polsloe’s way when they won the first and third to give them a 6-3 victory. Warren Jones went out on 129 for the home side.
The other three matches all went 8-1 to the visiting sides. Whipton A went down to league leaders Topsham Toppers whose R Prouse started on 148.
Topsham Town lost to Jubilee. M Carnell had a good start for Jubilee going away on 105.
Heavitree A lost to Polsloe B. Josh Rea got away on 108, R Milton(?) on 115, and L Malltrain(?) on 112 all for the visitors.

Week 8, Tuesday, December 3
No movement in league positions
In the Whipton Derby, league leaders Whipton B, beat their C team 6-3, it was 4-2 in the singles, but the B team got the final two doubles to take the points. Steve H started on 105 Shane B on 108, Roman went out on 118 and Olly on 114. Can you use players’ full names please, thanks.
Jubilee A went away to play Heavitree A and they went 4-2 up in the singles and then on to get all three doubles. Jake Mearns had a 100 start for the visitors and Andy Farrell recorded a 105 start for Heavitree.
Labour beat visitors St Martins 6-3 going 4-2 up in the singles and 2-1 in the doubles. D Burwood shot a 160 start for Labour and A Toborne got a 152 start for St Martins.
Alphington B entertained their A team who went 5-1 up in the singles but lost all the doubles to give a 4-5 result. L Chown, for the A team, went away on 103.
Second Division
The top team in the second division, Topsham Toppers, played their B team and went 5-1 up in the singles, the Towners got two of the doubles but it ended 6-3 to keep the Toppers in top spot.
Jubilee B, who are second in the table, had a bit of a battle with their visitors Heavitree B in the singles finishing three apiece, but all the doubles went to Jubilee to give them the 6-3 win. Jubilee’s Wayne Edworthy shot out on 104.
Polsloe A triumphed over their B string getting four of the singles followed by the odd doubles game, the legs were close also with the match finishing 12-11 in the A team’s favour. Warren Jones got away on 160 for the A side and Dale Brealey got a 115 finish for the B side.
Whipton A had a good night at the Railway Club going 4-2 up and winning two of the doubles. Whipton had 16 legs while Railway had 6. Whipton’s Mark Simmons recorded a 180.
Week 7, November 26
Whipton B’s three 180s
First Division
Our top two teams did battle this week when Jubilee A went away to Whipton B, the visitors went three down in the singles before fighting back to finish 4-2 down. In the doubles Whipton took the first and third games to win the match 6-3. Whipton’s Phil Ward, Brandon Stow and Paul Richardson all registered 180s. High starts went to Dan Bevan, 100 and 156 and to Shane Bevan 108. Andy Hitchman shot out on 146.
Labour went five up in their match with Whipton C but lost the first two doubles before taking the third to finish 6-3 winners. Whipton’s Sid Holmes scored a 160 start.
Alphington A went 4-2 up in the singles and finished off Heavitree A by winning the last two doubles winning 6-3 Heavitree’s B Davis started on 142 in an eight-dart leg while Alphington’s Julian Budd started on 101 and Harry Hoare on 105. Heavitree’s Andy Newnham went away on 101.
St Martins paid a visit to Alphington B and in a tight match which went 4-4 came away with the points.
Second Division
Topsham Toppers, the Second Division leaders, had a good night beating Heavitree B 8-1 one bright spot for the visitors was S Horn getting away on 112 for Heavitree.
Jubilee B kept up the pressure on the Toppers by winning 5-4 at home to Polsloe B. The singles went three-all but two of the doubles went to Jubilee to give them the points. Louis Holge(?) had a 108 start for Plosloe.
Whipton A were away to Polsloe A and had a tight match finishing 5-4 to Polsloe. Singles ended all-square but Polsloe had the better pairs tally. John Clark, Whipton, finished on 104 while Ethan Prout started on 100 twice and Danny Yelland got a 120 start for Polsloe.
The match between Topsham Towners and Railway was postponed.
Knock-out Cup divisional semi-finals
Sid Peters out on 147
The semi-finals of our divisional knock-out cup took place on November 19 when Labour played Jubilee and Whipton B played Alphington A in the first division. The finals will take place in January. In the Labour v Jubilee match the singles went to 3-3 and Labour won all the doubles to finish 6-3 winners. Jubilee’s Sid Peters shot out on 147 and Tom Horn went out on 124.
The Whipton v Alphington match went four to two singles in favour of Alphington but Labour grabbed all three doubles to win 5-4. Alphington’s Julian Budd got started on 101 and L Chown on 120. Labour’s Andy Hitchman started on 152 and 112 while Brandon shot out on 101 and Olly on 110.
In the second division matches Topsham Toppers v Jubilee A went three all in the singles while all the doubles went to Jubilee giving them the match 6-3.
The second semi between Heavitree B and Polsloe B went to Polsloe 7-2, the singles went to Polsloe 4-2 and the doubles 3-0.
Week 6, November 12
No change at the top
Division One
Whipton B remain at the top of our league after winning in their match against Alphington A, they went 4-2 up in the singles, Alphington took the first doubles but Whipton got the second and third to take the match 5-4. Whipton’s Andy Hitchman got a 180 and Dan Bevan started on 100, R Bevan on 112, Alphington’s Alan Curgenven got away on 120.
Second-placed team, Jubilee A, made short work of opponents Whipton C winning the singles 5-1. Whipton got two of the doubles to finish 6-3 down. Ross Goyne got a 180.
Labour and Alphington A swapped places with Labour making it to third in the table when they beat Alphington B 6-3, 4-2 in the singles.
Heavitree A went away to St Martins and despite going two up in the singles finished up losing 6-3. Heavitree’s Sue Lewis did a 136 finish and Jerry alexander a 101 start. St Martins’ Chris Toborne recorded a 147 start in a seven-dart leg - best leg of the week?
Division Two
The two top teams, Topsham Toppers and Jubilee B went head-to-head with Jubilee going 4-2 up in the singles, and winning the first doubles game, they took the points. R Prouse started on 120 for the Toppers.
Polsloe A had a good night beating Topsham Towners 7-2, leading 2-4 in the singles they went on to capture all three doubles.
Polsloe B had a bit of a hammering when Whipton A won five of the singles and two doubles. S Harding recorded a 180 for the visitors while Louis Hodge shot out on 121 for Polsloe.
Railway went away to Heavitree B and tied at 3-3 in the singles and then took the first two doubles to win 5-4. Railway’s Sean Wids got a 180.

Whipton B and the Toppers riding high
Whipton B and Topsham Toppers only unbeaten teams in both divisions, Topsham beat second-placed Polsloe B 5-4 and Whipton B took out St Martins by the same margin.
In the first division Whipton B went 4-2 up in the singles and won the first of the doubles, unusually Whipton only had one special start to report when Brandon Stow hit a 136 start.
In the match between second and third teams, Jubilee A and Alphington A, the visitors went 2-4 up in the singles and then went 4-4 before getting the third doubles game 2-0 to take the points. Alphas’ Julian Budd got away on 101 and 120 while Sid Peters for the home side started on 119 and Tom Horn going away on 120.
Heavitree A suffered from a being a player down and lost 8-1 to Labour with Harry Mayhew being their only winner. Heavitree’s Nick Tamlin went away on 105 and Labour’s Owen Bates started with a 119.
There was another 8-1 defeat for Alphington B this time to Whipton C. Robbie B and Simon Holmes scored 180s for Whipton. Steve Kingdon went out on 120 for the visitors while Alphington’s Gary Shields recorded a 105 start and a 100 shot out.
Second division: In the second division the top two teams came together to dish up a cracker of a match, the singles went 3-3 with the first doubles game going to Polsloe the second to Topsham as did the decider to give Topsham the points. Josh Rea recorded a 112 start for Polsloe.
Third team, Jubilee B were away to Railway when the singles ended 3-3. A different story with the pairs though as Railway took all three games to win 6-3. Railway’s Phil Barrett scored a 108 start.
Polsloe A had a good night beating Heavitree B 7-2, it was 4-2 in the singles with all three doubles going to the home side. Ethan Prout started on 120.
The match between Whipton A and Topsham Towners was a 9-0 walk-over for Whipton as Topsham could not raise a team.
Week 4 – October 29
Whipton B 4-2 down, come back to win 5-4
Division One
At week four we still have two unbeaten teams in the first division, Whipton B and Jubilee A, and two unbeaten in the second, Topsham Toppers and Polsloe B. At the other end of the divisions only Heavitree A have no points in the first and two in the second, Railway and Topsham Town.
Back to the first division the top match was between Labour and Whipton B. The singles went Labour’s way as they led 4-2 but then lost all three doubles to give Whipton the victory. Labour’s Brandon Stow recorded a 180 while Dan Bevan got a 116 start and Shane Bevan a 108 start for Whipton.
The other top team went away to St Martins and came away with a 6-3 win. It was 2-4 to Jubilee in the singles. With Jubilee winning two of the doubles. St Martins’ Ryan Coles was on fire getting a 116 finish and a 112 start.
Whipton C were at home to Alphington A who struggled to 3-3, then 4-4 before bagging the last doubles game to win 5-4. Alan Curgenven, Alphington, shot out on 100.
The match between the two bottom teams, Heavitree A and Alphington B both of whom had not gathered any points resulted in a win for Alphington. Unfortunately, Heavitree were a player short but led 4-2 in the singles. They then went on to lose the next two doubles and lose the match 5-4.
In the second division there may be fireworks in their next match when Polsloe B are at home to Polsloe on November 5th. But this week the Toppers faced the Railway Club and won 7-2 – 4-2 up in the singles. Rob Prowse got a 180 and Graham Madge a 106 start for the Toppers while Wayne Marchant started on 102 and Pete White 106 for the Railway.
Polsloe B faced Topsham Towners and were all-square in the singles - only to lose all three doubles to go down 6-3. Reece Alexander had a 105 start for the Towners.
Jubilee B were at home to Polsloe A and went down 4-2 in the singles. In the doubles it went 2-1 to Jubilee but the points went to Polsloe. Polsloe’s Dale Brailey scored a 180.
Heavitree B entertained Whipton A who went 4-2 up at the break then went on to win all three doubles to finish 7-2 up. Heavitree’s Mary Melton started on 116.
Knock-out Cup, October 22
And then there were eight . . .
First Division
Our league leaders, Whipton B, had a fright playing against St Martins the singles were nip-and-tuck to 3-3, the doubles went one apiece until Shane Bevan and Olly Young came to the oche beating J Morefield and C Toborne 2-0 to get into the next round. St Martins’ S O’Donnell had a 180 while Whipton’s Dan Bevan shot out on 106 and Andy Hitchman finished on 112 in a 10-darter.
Jubilee A were at home to Heavitree A and made some hay, beating them 8-1 with Sid Peters starting on 160 and finishing on 118. Mark Waycott recorded a 108 start.
Whipton C were at home to Labour and in another tight match lost 5-4, again the singles were equal, and it went to 4-4 before Labour’s Owen Bates and Leigh Bennett won the decider against Roman Bilenjky and Robbie B(?). Labour’s Kieren Peek scored a 180.
Alphington B were three players short so no surprise that they lost 8-1 to their A side. Their captain, Mark Boyland, was their only winner. Lucas Chown started on 120 and Julian Budd 100.
Second Division
Polsloe A were at home to Jubilee B when they fought tooth and nail in the singles to end up on 3-3 but it was all over for Polsloe as their visitors won all three doubles. Polsloe’s Danny Yelland started on 100 and Jubilee’s Wayne Edworthy got away on 160.
Whipton A played Polsloe B when the singles also went 3-3 and the doubles 3-0 to Polsloe. Dan Kennedy, Polsloe, went away on 108.
Topsham Toppers went 3-3 with visitors Railway in the singles, they won the first doubles, lost the second but came back to take the match 5-4.
Unfortunately, Topsham Town couldn’t field a team so their opponents, Heavitree B, took a 9-0 win.
Week 3, October 15
Three unbeaten teams in Div 2
Alphington A, Jubilee A and Whipton B have all had the joy of beating Alphington B 8-1 in the first three weeks, with Labour having to wait another three weeks for their turn. But the worst is over for a few weeks for the Alphas. This next week sees the first round of the Knockout Cup with leaders Whipton B playing St Martins, Jubilee A against Heavitree A, Whipton C v Labour and Alphington B v Alphington B. In the second division there are three unbeaten teams, leaders Jubilee B play Polsloe A Topsham Toppers play Railway, and Polsloe B take on Whipton A with Heavitree B taking on the Towners.
Moving back to week three Whipton B are top after taking five-player Alphington B to the cleaners winning 8-1, Shane Bevan got a 108 start and Dan Bevan finished on 104.
Alphington A had a tight match against St Martins going 4-2 up in the singles and finishing the winners 5-4. Alphington’s Julian Budd had a 180, Lucas Chown a 101 start and Alan Curgenven a 101 start. St Martins’ O Donnell had a 107 start.
Jubilee A had a good win over Labour winning 6-3 after going 5-1 up in the singles. Sid Peters for Jubilee hit two good starts of 120 and 100.
Whipton C had a stormer over Heavitree A going 6-0 up in the singles and coming out 8-1 winners. Heavitree’s Tony Lewis got a 122 start and Whipton’s Robbie Bewick(?) recorded a 115 start.
In the second division, leaders Jubilee B, had a 6-3 win over Whipton A. David Roberts, Jubilee, scored a 180.
New team, Polsloe B, kept up their unbeaten record beating Railway 6-3 after going 4-2 up in the singles.
Polsloe A were home to Topsham Toppers who went 6-1 up and finishing 7-2 winners. Polsloe’s Warren Jones started on 117 and Toppers’ Keith Chadwick recorded a 120 start.
Heavitree B beat Topsham Towners winning 6-3 after going 4-2 up.

Week 2, October 8
Division One
Going to be tougher this winter!
Division 1
After going all summer unbeaten, then stuffing the B team 8-1, week two must have been a shock to the system when Alphington A visited Labour Club and were beaten 6-3! It was 3-3 in the singles but Labour won all three doubles. Labour’s new signing Wayne Hughes shot out on 130.
Jubilee A, away to Alphington B, who could only muster five players, had a field day beating the Alfas 8-1, Jubilee’s Tom Horn had a 120 start.
The battle between Whipton C and St Martins was much closer finishing 5-4 to St Martins.
Whipton B continued on their winning way beating Heavitree A 7-2 with Andy Farrell and Tony Lewis being Heavitree’s only winners. Dan Bevan, Whipton’s captain recorded a 121 finish and 9-dqrt leg while Olly Young started on 101 and Andy Hitchman finished on 108.
Division 2
Jubilee B enjoyed themselves as they beat Topsham Town 9-0 (17-3).
Topsham Toppers took out Whipton A 6-3. John Clark took the first game for the visitors but the Toppers had the other five singles to take the points.
Polsloe B remain unbeaten as they beat Heavitree B 6-3 with Polsloe’s Paul Rea getting a 180.
Railway and Polsloe A went 3-3 in the singles with Railway getting the first doubles before Polsloe captured the other doubles to come out the winners by 5 to 4. Phil Barrett recorded a 177.
Week One, October 1

Well, we’re off and running and it will take a few weeks to see which teams get to the top of their division and which ones don’t!
Division 1
In the first division it was business as usual at Alphington with the B team getting thumped 8-1 by the A team – but surprisingly no 180s etc to report.
Jubilee A beat Heavitree A 6-3 with Darren Western, Jubilee A, and Andy Farrell, Heavitree, recording 120 starts.
Welcome back to the Labour Club who beat St Matthews 6-3 with A Hine finishing on 105 for Labour, and St Martins’ C Toborne going out on 116.
In another 6-3 victory Whipton B’s Andy Hitchman went away on 116 and Ryan Bevan finished on 125 while Phill Ward had a 180.
Division 2
Polsloe and Priory A were at home to new team, Polsloe and Priory B. The A team romped to a 4-2 lead in the singles, but the B side took all three doubles to take the points. B’s Paul Rea had a start on 106.
Whipton A were at home to Railway and went 4-2 up, railway came back to4-3 but it was the home side who made it 5-3. The final game went to Railway.
In the Topsham Derby the Towners went 2-4 down to the Toppers in the singles and who then took all three doubles to end up 7-2 winners. Toppers’ S Adams recorded a 105 start.
Finally, Jubilee B beat Heavitree B 7-2 with Heavitree’s R Dorothy getting a 180 and A Moxey a 102 start.

Week 18, Tuesday, September 17th
Last gasp finish for champions
Phew! Couldn’t be closer! Our champions, Alphington A, were going for the clean sweep in the final match of the season – they achieved it but only just. They were away to West C and were 4-2 down in the singles but turned it on to win all three doubles and took the match. I’m sure everyone will join me in congratulating their captain Harry Hoare and all the team members on their brilliant achievement. There were some great starts in the match: Julian Budd 120 and 100, Pete Chown 120, Ronnie Webb 120, Rob Wilson 103 for Alphington and 101 for West’s Paul Clear
There was a surprise result in the match between St Martins and second-in-the-table Jubilee A. J Vicary scored a 180 and won the first game - but that was it, all the other games went to St Martins. Jubilee’s D Western had 100 and 120 starts, and J Blackwell a 160 start. D Watt had, a 105 start for the winners.
In the match between Heavitree and Polsloe and Priory which Heavitree won 7-2, S Yelland had a start of 104.
Topsham made the journey out to Jubilee B and drew 3-3 in the singles but the doubles went 2-1 to Jubilee to claim the 5-4 win. Jubilee’s Taylor Robbins recorded a 180 while Topsham’s S Yelland started on 156 and K Chadwick on 102.
Down at the bottom end of the table Alphington B entertained Whipton when the singles went 3-3. The doubles went one apiece, but it was Alphington who secured the points winning the final pairs.
2024 Summer League
Week 17, Tuesday, September 17
Will Railway spoil the party?
Alphington A are champions with one match to go next week against Railway. Can Railway win where all the other teams have failed?
This week Alphington A beat St Martins 6-3 and were 4-2 up in the singles. The doubles gave them the victory 6-3. Pete Chown had two 120 starts and Ronnie Webb a 180 both for Alphington.
In the match between second team Jubilee A and Polsloe and Priory the teams traded games to finish the singles 3-3 but Jubilee won all three doubles to finish 6-3 winners. Dan Yelland got a 130 start for the away side while Tom Horn got a 100 start and Gareth Blackwell recorded a 135 finish.
Heavitree and Jubilee B played the tightest match of the week going 3-3 in the singles and each got a doubles game but it we Jubilee B who triumphed in the third doubles to take the points. Heavitree’s Andy Farrell got a 106(?) start and Sid Peters had a 120 start for Jubilee.
Whipton A took Railway to three-all in the singles but went down three-nil in the doubles to give Railway a 6-3 win. Nicole Goyne had a 10-daart leg while Railway’s Pete White went away on 150.
Finally Alphington B were away to Topsham and went well to be 5-1 up in the singles, Topsham came back to win two of the doubles to make the result 6-3 to their visitors.
2024 Summer League
Week 16, Tuesday, September 3rd
Our champions on the way to 100%
Alphington continue down the road to 100% wins for the season with just the two matches remaining. This week it was Polsloe’s turn to take a hammering losing 0-9 and winning just the one leg. Polsloe’s Ethan Prout scored a 180 while Alphington’s Julian Budd recorded a 120 start.
Jubilee A, eight points behind, gave Heavitree a pasting too, winning 8-1 with Nick Tamlin being their only winner. Nick also started on 122.
The only five-four result was in the match between West C and Topsham. West went 4-2 up in the singles and won the second doubles. Topsham’s Chris Durrant scored a 180. The visitor’s Keith Chadwick started on 100 and S Ellery(?) 102. West’s Rob Keight got away on 115.
St Martins were at home to Whipton and won 7-2, Whipton had only five players. Chris Taborne got away with 108 and D Morefield 105 for St Martins.
Last match was between Alphington B and Jubilee B, it went 3-3 in the singles but then the home side lost all the doubles to finish 3-6 losers. Taylor Robbins got a 160 away shot for Jubilee.
2024 summer league
Week 15, August 27
CHAMPIONS
Alphington A cannot be caught and are the 2024 Champions of our summer league. Congratulations to all their players especially their captain Harry Hoare. With three matches to go they are eight points clear, the battle now is between second-placed Jubilee A and third team Heavitree who play each other next week.
The match of the week this week was between Alphington A and Jubilee A the match went all the way to the last doubles when Lucas Chown and Julian Budd took on Jubilee’s Gary Blackwell and J Vicary. The visitors took the first leg but lost the other two and Alphington are champions. Lucas Chown had a 136 finish and Julian Budd a 105 out shot. Jubilee’s Gary Blackwell recorded a 101 start and J Vickery had a 180.
Heavitree played Alphington B and won 5-4 with Heavitree’s Nick Tamlin going away on 105 and a 180 each for Ben Davis and Alphington’s Mark Boyland.
Jubilee B were at home to West C when the singles went 4-2 to the home side. The doubles went to four-all before the home side secured the points with a 2-1 doubles win. Rob Knight had a 101 start, and Wayne Hobbs starts on 108 and 105 while West’s Sid Peter got 100 off and T Robins 140.
Topsham lost 3-6 to visitors St Martins, the match went 3-3 in the singles but St Martins won all three doubles.
Finally, Whipton came out on top in their match with Polsloe, it went 4-2 in the singles and finished 5-4. Ethan Prout went out on 125 for Polsloe.

Week 14, August 20
Alphington A still winning
– but next up is Jubilee A
Leaders Alphington A beat third team Heavitree 6-3 to maintain their six-point lead over Jubilee A - they went 5-1 up in the singles. Andy Farrell got a 120 away for Heavitree with Nick Staddon getting a 112 start and a 127 finish. Lucas Chown, Alphington, recorded a 160 start.
Jubilee A dominated a five-player Whipton, going one down they rallied to go 5-1 up in the singles also winning the first pairs. Dean Brown got away on 131 for Jubilee.
St Martins entertained Jubilee B and enjoyed going five-one up before losing the first pairs but they came back to finish 7-2 winners. C Toborne , St Martins, hit a 111 out shot while D Watt had two great starts, 105 and 120. Jubilee’s W Edworthy got a 120 start.
The match between Polsloe and Topsham was a tight affair with the singles ending 3-3. The doubles went 1-1 before Polsloe took the points with the final game of the match.
Alphington B were away to West C when another tight match ended 5-4. The singles went 3-3 but the visitors took the first two doubles to snatch the points. Alphington’s Gary Shields got a 120 start and Sam Partington a 114 start.
Week 13, August 13
Is it Alphington’s title?
With five weeks to go Alphington A are six points clear of Jubilee A who were a player short for their match with Topsham so it would seem that Alphington are champions in waiting.
Alphington A played Whipton and were the winners by 8-1. Lucas Chown had a 101 start and Pete Chown a 120 start.
Second team, Jubilee A lost 5-4 against Topsham, having to give two games away. Jubilee’s J Blackwell recorded a 109 start.
Heavitree closed the gap between them and Jubilee by beating West C 5-4. Jerry Alexander recorded a ‘two’ start, while Nick Tamlin for Heavitree and Brian Kemble for West went away on 100.
Jubilee B entertained Polsloe and Priory when the singles ended 3-3, it was the home side who got the points winning the final two doubles. Polsloe’s Ethan Prout was on top form getting a 180 and a 120 start.
The final match of the week was between Alphington B and visitors St Martins. The singles finished 3-3 but the home side got all three doubles to finish 6-3 winners. St Martins’ Andrew Ellul had a great finish on 117.
Week 12, August 6
Three tight 5-4 matches this week
Leaders Alphington A had yet another good win this week over Topsham to remain four points clear of Jubilee A who had a cracker of a game against their B team. There were also 5-4 results for Polsloe v Alphington B and for Railway over St Martins.
Alphington A had a fight on their hands as it was all-square after the singles but they nailed all three doubles to win 6-3 (13-7). Topsham’s Chadwick (?) started on
105 and Alphington’s Hode (?) On 100.
In the Jubilee Derby the A team went 4-2 up in the singles but managed one of the doubles to win 5-4. Wayne Edworthy recorded a 180 and Tom Horn a 102 finish.
Heavitree visited Whipton and ran away with the match 7-2, 2-4 up at the break they captured all the doubles. Andy Farrell got a 180 and a 120 start he also got a 120 finish. B Davis got 104 away, M Mann a 101 start and Jerry Alexander a 100 start.
St Martins entertained Railway and shared the singles spoils at 3-3. Railway then got the first two doubles to take the points. St Martins’ S O’Donnell got a 180 as did their C Toborne. Brian Kemble went away on 105,
Polsloe and Alphington B had a tight match finishing as a 5-4 win for the home side. Alphington’s Mark Boyland had a 160 start.
Week 11 – July 30
Little to report this week
A quiet week – Alphington A won again to remain top and Alphington B lost again to remain bottom and in mid-table Jubilee B and St Martins swapped places.
Leaders Alphington A were away to Jubilee B and were 6-0 up in the singles, Jubilee made a comeback in the doubles winning two out of three. Alphington’s Ronnie Webb had a 112 and Rob Wilson had 100 and 120 starts. Pete Chown had a 180 as did Jubilee’s Wayne Edworthy.
Second-placed team Jubilee A made the trip the other side of the river to take Alphington B 6-3. It was 2-4 in the singles and the visitors clinched the points by winning the first pairs.
Heavitree were at home to St Martins and in a tight match won 5-4. St Martins Dan Morefield got away on 110 while Heavitree’s Jery Alexander got up and running with 115.
Topsham FC entertained Whipton SC and went 4-2 up in the singles following up with two doubles wins to make it 6-3.
There was no fifth match as due to the unavailability of their club, Railway gave the match to Polsloe and Priory 9-0.
Week 10, July 23
A good week for Alphington A
It was a good week for Alphington A, first they thrashed their B team 7-2 to remain unbeaten and then their closest team, Jubilee A lost 5-4 to West C to put four points between the two top teams.
There was a flurry of high starts in the Alphington Derby for the A side Alan Curgenven 103, Pete Chown 120 and 160; L Chown 160 and Julian Budd 120, for the Bs George Hall 114 and Sam Kennedy 140. In the Jubilee A v West C match which went 4-4 Wayne Hobbs and Stevie Ireland got the winner over Tom Horn and James Vanstone in a three-legger. Another tight 5-4 was played out at Topsham when Heavitree pipped the home side. Lena Martyr scored 122 start for Topsham. And yet another 5-4 was played at Polsloe v St Martins when the singles finished 3-3 and the first two doubles were shared, the winning game went to Don Watt and Sean O’Donnell 2-0 over Polsloe’s Danny Yelland and S Yelland. St Martins’ Andy Taborne had a 108 start and a 109 finish. Chris Taborne hit a 100 out shot. The final match, at Whipton SC, ended 8-1 to visitors Jubilee B, A Worth got away on 110 for the home side and E Waycott, 121, and T Robbins 127 for Jubilee.

Jake gets two maximums against St Martins
In Jubilee A’s match with St Martins which they won 7-2 their Jake Babajews had a cracking night scoring two 180s, Dean Brown also got one and had a 105 start, Tom Horn scored 174, and St Martins’ Chris Tobrone recorded a 108 start. League leaders, Alphington A beat West C 7-2. West’s J Turner got a 180 and Ronnie Webb started on 103 for Alphington. In the match between Polsloe and Heavitree Jane Dorothy scored a 180 for the home side while ben Davis started on 103 for the visitors, The match went to 5-4 to Heavitree. Topsham Town FC suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of visitors Jubilee B losing 8-1 with Topsham’s Graham Madge being the only winner. Tylor Edworthy started on 114 for Jubilee. In the final match Whipton Social were at home to Alphington B who went 4-2 up only to lose all three doubles and finish the 5-4 losers. Alphington’s Sam Partington got a 171.
Week 8, July 2
Alphington A fight for the points
Leaders Alphington A had to fight every step of the way against fourth-placed St Martins, the match went to 4-4 before captain Harry Hoare and Alan Curgenven took out A Toborne and D Greaves 2-0 to secure the points. Julian Budd and Pete Chown both had 100 starts while C Toborne recorded a 108 start. Polsloe and Priory were at home to second team Jubilee A and suffered an 8-1 defeat. Jubilee's Tom Horne got a 180 and Polsloe's Warren Jones a 160 start. Our third-placed team Heavitree went away to Jubilee B and in a very tight match lost 5-4, Jubilee's S Peters shot out on 100. West C were at home to Whipton and went to 2-2 before stepping it up to win 6-3. And now we come to the match between Alphington B v Topsham who up to this match hadn't won. They went 3-0 up then on to 5-1 to take the points, the match finished Alphington 2, Topsham 7.
Week 7 – June 25
No changes at the top
Alphington A remain top of the league as they enjoyed an 8-1 victory over mid-table Polsloe. Julian Budd recorded a 105 start and an 111 dart finish, Ronnie Webb got a 103 start and Pete Chown a 109 finish for Alphington while D Braily had a 112 start for Polsloe. Jubilee A remain In second with Jack Vickery getting a 115 shot out for Jubilee and Heavitree’s Ben Davis scoring 180. In the match between Whipton and St Martins Whipton’s Matt Sprague scored 180 and A Worth got 101 away – St Martins won 6-3. Alphington B rocked up at Jubilee with just the four players but held the home side to a 5-4 win. The match between West and Topsham was postponed until July 16 – our AGM date.
2024 Summer League
Week 6 – Tuesday, June 18
And now there’s only one . . .
The unbeaten teams have tumbled from three to just one as the top two teams clashed on Tuesday with Jubilee A falling to second placed Alphington A. It was a close call though as the games tally went to four each and leg and leg with Alphington A coming out on top. Julian Budd got away on 100.
Third-placed Heavitree returned to winning ways beating Alphington B 5-4 (10-10) with Alphington’s Simon Partington scoring a 171. St Martins move up to fourth beating Topsham 6-3, D Moorfield bagged a 180. Polsloe and Priory won their third match to move up to fifth beating Whipton 6-3 and West C won another tight match beating Jubilee B 5-4. Jubilee’s Wayne Edworthy scored a 180.
Week 5, Tuesday, June 11
And then there were two . . .
At week five we have just two unbeaten teams, Jubilee the leaders, and second team Alphington A who beat week four’s third-placed team Heavitree. Next week it will be just the one unbeaten side as Jubilee A are home to Alphington.
Jubilee A defeated Whipton 2-7 this week with Jubilee’s Dan Bevan getting a ton away in an 11-dart leg. Tom Horn got a 107 start. There was a great match out at Heavitree as visitors Alphington A managed a 5-4 win, it was three-all in the singles but the visitors got two of the doubles. Heavitree’s Andy Farrell got a 101 finish, Nick Tamlin recorded 110 out and a 101 start. Jerry Alexander went away on 100 and Andy Farrell a 120 start. Tom Whitfield scored a 180. Alphington were always behind Brian Kemble and Stevie Ireland settled it, 5-4, winning the second of the doubles. Polsloe and Priory continue to enjoy their season as they beat Topsham 5-4 even though they gave one singles away due to no player. The singles were shared but they won two of the three doubles games to take the match 4-5. Danny Yelland started on 100 and 120. St Martins went away to Jubilee B and came away with the points winning 3-6 to move up the table to fourth.
Week 4, Tuesday, June 4
Top Three still unbeaten
The top three teams all won again with Jubilee A and Alphington A winning 8-1 and third team, Heavitree, winning 6-3. There were several movers though with Alphington B moving up to fifth and Jubilee B moving to sixth. Polsloe dropped two places and West C dropped a place.
In Jubilee A’s match with Topsham Lena Martyr was the only winner for the visitors while Jake Mearns recorded a 10-dart leg and Darren Western getting a 110 start for Jubilee. Alphington A beat Whipton 8-1 with Mike Bending being the only winner for Whipton beating Alan Curgenven 2-1, Alan had a 108 start and Nick Staddon had a 112 start. Heavitree, away to Whipton, got their fourth win 6-3 with Heavitree’s Ben Davis getting a 108 start and Nick Tamlin getting away on 112. Jake Wreford started on 100 for the home side. Alphington B went away to St Martins and won 6-3 with St Martins’ Chris Taborne starting on 110. Andy Taborne starting on 108 and Dave Greaves on 101. In the final match of the night Jubilee B got their first win of the season beating Polsloe 7-2. Jubilee’s Finn Copp went away on 120 and Tyler Edworthy was off on 136.
Week 3 - Tuesday, May 28
Still 3 unbeaten teams
Jubilee A have beaten their B team to remain in first place, Alphington A remain in second after taking out Topsham 7-2, and Heavitree maintain their third spot after beating Whipton 6-3.
In the Jubilee match the B side's Taylor Robbins recorded a 105 start and a 100 finish while team-mate Ethan Waycott went out on 114. Alphington A's Alan Curgenven scored a 180 while Pete Chown had a 160 start against Topsham. Heavitree had a good 6-3 win over fourth-placed Whipton whose Matt Sprague hit a 180 and Stew Harding shot out on 148. The tightest match of the week was that between West C who were home to St Martins, the match went all the way to 4-4 before West took the last game. St Martins' Dan West recorded a 120 start. The final match was Alphington B v Polsloe and Priory which the home side won 6-3 to get their first win.
Jubilee A pacemaker at week 2
Jubilee A thumped Alphington B 8-1 to put themselves top and consign their opponents to the bottom. Alphington A are second and Heavitree third at this very early stage in our season.
Jubilee A lost the first game as Clayton Bates got a 180 playing against Jubilee's Darren Western who had a 100 start and Jake Mearns a 102 start. Alphington A won 5-4 against Jubilee B with Julian Budd and Jubilee's Ethan Waycott scoring 180s. Heavitree went away to St Martins and got a narrow 5-4 victory with their Tony Lewis and Nick Tamlin recording 180s and B Davis getting away on 103. Whipton also had a narrow 5-4 win against Topsham FC to remain unbeaten. The 5-4s were everywhere with Polsloe and Priory getting the odd game against visitors West Railway this one went all the way to 4-4 before the home side settled it.

Jubilee A are top of the shop following their trouncing of West C 9-0. Jubilee A’s Dean Brown hit a 180, Jack Vicars 100 out and Sid Peters 133 out. Wayne Marchant 116 and Brian Kemble 123 out for the home side. Alphington A are second beating their B team 7-2 with the A’s Nick Staddon starting on 112 and the B’s Mark Boyland getting away on 120. Heavitree beat visitors Topsham FC 6-3 when Keith Chadwick got a 180 and Tony Lewis finished on 109 for Heavitree while Graham Madge finished on 129 for Topsham. Jubilee B were at home to Whipton SC who beat them 5-4 with Wayne Edworthy getting away on 100, Phil Harding on 120 and John Clark 102. Taylor Robbins went away for 152 for Jubilee. The final match was between St Martins and Polsloe and Priory CC and was a tight 5-4 win for the home side. Polsloe’s Carole Steer recorded a 108 finish and Don Watt got a 105 away.
It would help if the players’ names were in capitals and when you take the pic of the card all of the card was in it! While I’m having a moan, we will make sure the next printing of the result card has space for starts and finishes but in the meantime can you please make sure you say which is which? Thanks.
